By Amanda Bell,

It may be 2019 now, but pretty soon we'll all be venturing back to 1985 because Stranger Things' third season is heading to Netflix just in time for the next big fireworks holiday.

Netflix dropped a video teaser for the show's new season at the stroke of midnight, and in it, the New Year's Eve ball drop is being celebrated, too -- just in a very different way from the rest of the world. The clip features vintage footage of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve show from 1985 interspersed with some creepy cutaways to a computer screen with command logs from Lynx Corp. The video of the famed ball is slowly turned upside-down as the countdown clock winds down, and pretty soon, we're treated to a fresh new glimpse of the massive shadow monster that we last saw looming over the upside-down version of the Hawkins Middle School auditorium at the tail end of Season 2.

At the end of the teaser, the release date Stranger Things 3 is revealed to be ... drum roll, please ... Thursday, July 4!

After two years of occupying the Halloween scene, it looks like Stranger Things is ready to lay claim to another holiday season entirely.

In addition to the teaser and release date, Netflix has also unveiled a snazzy poster for the new season, featuring Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) holding hands with Mike (Finn Wolfhard) as they take in a fireworks show alongside Max (Sadie Sink), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Will (Noah Schnapp) -- the latter of whom looks pretty worried about something, which, given his track record, is understandable.

Stranger Things Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available on Netflix.
