Australian Capital Territory, Nov 21, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Cynthia Jones-Bryson Millinery is proud to announce that we have won the Myer Fashions on the Field Millinery Award award at the Melbourne Cup Carnival for 2019 amongst very accomplished and stunning competition. As with all Cynthia Jones-Bryson pieces the hat was made by hand and took over 60 hours to complete.
"I'm so excited to have won this award. It is nice to see the time and thought put into my pieces recognized by others on such a large scale," said Cynthia, "while this is not what I do it for, it is always wonderful to get a commendation for the countless hours of experimentation and design."
This is not Cynthia's first win at the Melbourne Cup, having last won in 2015 and placing in the Top 10 in 2017, and 2018. This year's piece has a very unique shape to it, with bold colours and detail that stands out. The hat towers high, sitting to the side of the wearer's head.
"I was playing with different shapes when I settled on the final design of this piece. I wanted a very feminine shape with organic, fluid lines and the final piece achieves that while also looking very unique."
Inspiration for her pieces is drawn from everywhere, with past collections using songs for inspiration, as well as inspirational women, popular culture and organic shapes that Cynthia sees around her. For this piece, her inspiration was obvious.
"I drew inspiration for the colours from Robert Palmer's video clip for Simply Irresistible - the red and pink and purple slim dresses with hot red lips. You can really see it in the piece."
Cynthia makes her custom pieces from her home studio based in the Canberra region and takes pride in creating wearable art. None of her pieces are identical and clients can consult with Cynthia if they would like to match a specific dress or have a piece made to their specifications.
